Hello,
I am looking for your expertise to help find out right configuration of quadrocopter based on my requirements or at least to avoid dead ends.
Requirements to my drone are:
- lift up 5 kg
- distance is up to 10 km
- time in the air 30-40 minutes
The budget for this is near 1 000 USD.
I have been preparing the final list of components today and find out it is quite difficult to find right motors for such configuration within my budget and extremely difficult to meet it with right battery.
The lifting power of the motor should be x2 compare to weight they are going to carrier.
The 1st version of my drone is supposed to have 4 motors. It means 2.5 kg of thirst per motor.
T-motors are initially targeted are quite expensive (100 - 150 USD per item) for me right now, I am more or less comfortable to pay 30-40 USD per item. However, the one which I have found consumes 30-40 A of current, which means 40A x 4 = 160 A (!). 6s 10 000 mAh and 12s 20 000 mAh LiPO batteries can give 60A and 120A respectively which are not enough for this configuration at its max threshold.
Further research shown it is possible to find motors with less current consumption but with relatively the same thirst value, however their cost is much higher what I can afford right now.
T-Motor U8 II 170KV | 170 | 12S (44.4V) | ~20–22 A | ~3–3.5 кг | 28x8.4 CF |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Foxtech D5010 360KV | 360 | 6S | ~22–24 A | ~2.6–2.8 кг | 17x5.5 |
KDE5215XF-330 | 330 | 6–12S | ~22 A | ~3.0 кг | 18–21 |
Is there any workable alternative configuration within this budget?

my configuration so far:
Flight controller: Cube orange (500 USD)
Frame: handmade
Motors: GARTT ML 5008 400KV (140 USD)
Props: 3 blade 15 inch x 7 x 5 (50 USD)
Battery: 6s 10 000 mAh (?)
RC controller: Radiomaster 16
RC, telemetry etc are out of the scope caused by bottleneck on motors & battery part.
