Linux based vs. native implementation

Hi Guys,
i want to start with ardupilot and need to choose the hardware platform. I think, i need to decide, whether to select a linux based platform like BBB or Intel Aero, or a ‘nativ’ one like Pixracer with STM32F427VIT6. Could some explain me the advantages/disadvantages of a linux based platform? I heard about latency and performance problems on linux platforms due the events. What kinds of events are there? I am new in ardupilot and i tought, that ardupilot doesn’t require so much computing power.
It would be great if somebody could explain me differences and advantages of both solutions.
