Inquiry About Non-Chinese Electronics

Dear Drone Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently exploring options for electronic products manufactured outside of China and would appreciate your insights on available non-Chinese electronics.

Specifically, I am looking for recommendations in the following categories:

  1. Telemetry systems
  2. Video telemetry systems
  3. Remote controllers/Ground control stations
  4. EO/IR camera manufacturers or suppliers
  5. BLDC motors (propulsion systems)
  6. Electronic speed controllers
  7. Navigation GNSS systems
  8. VR goggles

Your suggestions and insights would be incredibly helpful in guiding my search. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Most components like gyros barometers, GPS, compass, CPU are made in the US and EU with the products just assembled in china. pixhawk blue is made in the US, I assume they have other products from the US also.

You’ll be looking for β€œNDAA” compliant electronics by the sounds of it. They use non Chinese components and are not assembled there either (Russia and a couple other countries are included).

We are based in the UK and manufacture most of our stuff in China but do offer full UK assembly for NDAA compliant avionics if required.

As above lots of the actual sensors are not made in China, but there are also lots of Chinese clones so for true NDAA compliance the manufacturer should source them from reputable places.

Are there any electronics that simply don’t exist outside of China for the same performance and order-of-magnitude in price? Things like radio receivers, video transmitters and so on; are there any that are obvious issues? Take a simple analog 5.8GHz VTX, if the closest friendly-nation equivalent is three times the size, a tenth of the power and ten times the cost, that is a problem.

If anything like that is made in the EU or US then it needs to pass much stricter radio laws than imported hardware so it’s going to be more expensive.
