How to make the APM copter fly?

HI, I have assembled the copter,also tried to test the use of Mission Planner.
But I do not know how to get the copter started to fly.
Is the need to download additional software?
After downloading the software still needs to be done to make it how to fly?

For your receiver you need a ppm-encoder like this
