How much "D"?

How much D (of PID) should we use for roll and pitch with v2.74b? With a 'copter I’ve always used a very small amount like 0.010, is this small amount advisable on planes or is there a benefit to having a higher value.
So far I haven’t see much difference on an X8 wing with a 0.010, overshoot and/or damping seem unchanged.

“D” always seems to be recommended in .01 increments and not very much. I use .02-.03. To be honest, I just do it just in case I need damping. Not sure how to ultra fine tune this parameter except for whats stated in the tuning guide. I have asked for more guidance on this vis a vis the tuning graphs.
