How does Overshoot & LeadIn work in MP 1.3.38?

I am using MP 1.3.38 and in the Auto WP / Survey / Grid Options there are various settings that I would like to have more information on purpose, and how to use:

  1. Overshoot[m] (this appears twice - why?) and LeadIn[m] -

  2. Copter Options - Heading Hold?

  3. Plane Options - Alternate Lanes/Min Lane Separation ?

Could not find any other documentation about them here, or on ardupilot.org .

Thank you

  1. overshot is how far past the outside of the grid the MAV will fly. there are 2 because the affect ether end. (ie wind). Leadin is the same, just before the grid starts
  2. so the copter points a specific direction during the flight.
  3. you can do fly the grid while skipping one line, then on the return fly the skipped lines.

most of this is easier to show if you just try it. ie plan a grid mission so you can see the results.

Thank you Michael. I will experiment some more with these settings.

you can do fly the grid while skipping one line, then on the return fly the skipped lines.
Why do this kind of skipping? Is this used when an airplane cannot turn tight enough to make the adjacent lane?
