Does anyone know if is it safe (and ok) to power my HM 30 ground unit with a pair of samsung 18650 li-ion batterues without a BEC?

Did you try it?
HM30 ground unit should be powered by a 2S-6S power source, so I guess it’s safe to use a pair of Li ion batteries. As long as it provides the needed power.
