Here4 doesn't function when used simultaneously with Hereflow

Hello,

When I try to use the Here4 and Hereflow simultaneously, they stop functioning. However, they both work fine when used individually.

I have tried connecting them both via a splitter to CAN1, and also tried connecting them separately to CAN1 and CAN2. I also have a Here3+, which works fine when connected via a splitter to CAN1.

I suspect the issue might be due to either a power shortage or communication conflict. Could someone please help me understand the cause of this issue and suggest a solution?

Thank you

Hi @iPso,

The vehicle has the arming checks enabled? E.g. ARMING_CHECK = 1. If there’s a CAN id conflict that will show up as an arming check failure and we have a wiki page here with nearly every arming check failure and suggestions on how to fix it.

Thank you, Randy. Your reply is very reassuring!

The error message displayed is “EK3 waiting for gps config data.”

Occasionally, it successfully starts up with simultaneous connections, but after a while, the message “PRX1 no data” appears, and the HERE4 LED stops lighting up, causing GPS reception to fail.

We plan to investigate the causes in detail, including the arming check issues, but could power insufficiency be a concern?

I apologize for not mentioning this earlier, but it stops functioning when powered by the battery, while both work normally when powered via USB.

Thank you.

Indeed a Power issue.
I’ve faced something similar before, we had to power the can bus splitter with another 5v power supply and remove 5v line coming out of CAN port.

Thank you for your message! I will try supplying 5V from another power source.

Hello @rmackay9 @MindProbe .
After adding a new bypass line from the power source, I was able to use it simultaneously!
Thank you for the advice!

However, the power consumption has increased, and the flight time has decreased by about 40%.

Do you have any good suggestions or improvements for this?
I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

There’s no battery monitor to compare current draw data between your current and previous configuration.
How are you deciding when to land the drone if there is no voltage monitoring also ?

@MindProbe
Thank you for your reply!

We are using the CUBE power module for our battery monitor. However, since our battery is 12S and the module only supports up to 8S, we are unable to monitor the current and voltage. We have purchased a power module that supports 14S and are currently waiting for its delivery.

Today, we conducted a flight. We reduced the I values for roll, pitch, and yaw rate, which somewhat improved the flight time, but the motors and cables are heating up.

We would appreciate any advice or methods to reduce the heat. Thank you in advance.
