I flew my 450 helicopter and started in stabilize, switched to loiter, then back to
stabilize and did a hard landing. There was severe oscillation of the helicopter
during the whole flight, I have a bit of extra weight at the end of the tail boom,
using a GPS mount as a tail landing leg, could that be part of the problem?
I attached my log files and would appreciate if anyone can take a look!!!
I’ve not had a look at your log but it sounds like a main rotor balance problem. Helicopters do have a degree of inherent stability and the flight controller only has a limited ability to cope with a bad set up.
It seems pretty stable on the ground before takeoff, but I guess a way to check this is if
I could switch to a flight mode that just does a pass through of the RC with no
autopilot adjustments at all. Is there a way to set that up? Acro mode seems to
still have autopilot involved I think. Thanks.
