I have received two UBLOX GPS modules. Each time, they came with 4 trapezoid-shaped pieces of PCB with absolutely NO explanation of what they are for. I’m making the assumption that if I solder them carefully around the GPS, it will act as a sort of “horn” and make reception better.

But I don’t know for certain.

Would someone please tell me exactly what these pieces are for, and if it makes a difference if I use them or not?

not a “horn” , should be mounted downwards, to give a bigger ground plane.
It does help a little, but for a plane it’s not significant.
