GPS and Telemetry Radio Inside Aircraft

Hi, we are building a fixed-wing aircraft and I wonder whether it would be a problem if we place the GPS and the telemetry radio inside the fuselage. Thank you in advance.

Caveat…I do not have a lot of experience but I do have an engineering degree and have done a bunch of research.

I expect it would depend on what the fuselage is made from. Inside a plastic or foam fuselage it’s probably fine, but inside a carbon fuselage or a fuse with metalic paint or film probably wouldn’t work well.

Try it and see if your sat count or location accuracy changes?

You probably want to place the telemetry radio some distance away from the GPS to minimize interference.

Guess we’ll use EPP foam and try it out. Thank you for the advice.
