Four Vtail servo for redundancy

To improve the reliability of a VTOL drone, is it possible to double the servos of a vtail?

Can the flight controller manage these 4 servos?
What better wiring method to choose?:

  • use the same two servo outputs on the pixhawk (servo functions 79 and 80)
  • or use 4 different servo outputs

Technically that’s an A-tail. :slight_smile: And yes, you can specify multiple servos for a given output type. See Choosing Servo Functions — Plane documentation for details. You’d probably want to use 4 separate outputs to allow for independent trimming and endpoint adjustment.

And if you’re looking for reliability you’d probably want the two servos on each side to be on separate power supplies.
