Flightmodes and new transmitter

I am looking for a SIMPLE and Inexpensive transmitter that will give me 5 or more flight mode selections without having to modify the transmitter. I am going to be using it on a tri and quadcopter maybe an octocopter in the future.

I currently am using a JR XP8103 (8 channel) that I have added a 2.4ghz module to, but I can’t really figure out how to get more than three modes out of it.

What is a good choice?

I have a Turnigy 9XR that was easy to assign software switches for six flight modes.
It’s done by using two hardware switches, one three position switch for the first three modes, then a second two position switch that will assign the first switch to the last three modes. Sounds confusing, but it’s easy to set up and pretty easy to use.
Here’s a YouTube clip that shows how it’s done;
