First time user having some issues

hi everyone, this is my first time using an arducopter v2.8 or flight controller of any kind so please be patient.
I am trying to install the initial firmware but im not seeing the COM12 option, just auto, tcp, udp and udpci.
any ideas?

GCS = Mission Planner, AMP Planner 2.0, Tower, etc.
