"Error Opening File" or "Unicode strings with encoding declaration are not supported."

Any idea why when trying to open a log file in MavExplorer I either get "Error Opening File’ if I use the open dialogue within Mavexplorer or I get “Unicode strings with encoding declaration are not supported.” if dragging the log file onto the Mavexplorer desktop shortcut?

I am running Windows 10 via Parallels on a Mac. The Windows OS does have Python installed if that helps.
