I’ve been reading up on the “Throw” mode and watching some youtube clips which are very impressive. But all of these demos are of guys who actually throw the vehicle into the air. Does this mode also work when the vehicle is simply dropped?
How about when the vehicle is dropped and is tumbling, perhaps due to a hefty crosswind?
Yes, it is possible, but you have to change a parameter: http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/parameters.html#throw-type-type-of-type
Keep in mind, that using this mode isn’t very recommended by the team as if the throw detection fails (if you don’t throw it with sufficient force for example) you can end up with your drone in pieces.
