Directly into auto mode with no radio calibration

Hello all,

I´m new to the UAV scene and am looking to fly an arduplane using auto mode only, and thus have not bought an RC controller. However, during the calibration phase in Mission Planner, it requires the radio to be calibrated ( I believe with the controller). I was wondering if you can simply skip this phase or do I have to get an RC controller.

Im using the APM 2.6 board btw

Thanks in advance!

Not having some way, either by your R/C transmitter or the telemetry link, to regain control of your aircraft if something goes wrong in the Auto Mode is shear folly.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a telemetry link and am using the 3DR radio. Is that enough to succesfully calibrate and operate the airplane?

You can use a gamepad or joystick to do this, though it is not a good idea for a number of reasons.

Click joystick in the actions tab.
