Crashes under Linux 14.04 compass config

Anyone else finding that the compass config does not work under Mint 14.04 64 bit, which is bascially Ubuntu 14.04.

I perform the compass procedure and then AMP Planner 2 crashes completely, disappears.

This is with a Pixhawk controller and AP2 downloaded from the AP site.

Funny I tried this under Mission Planner then came back to AP2 and it now works.

No idea why.
