Control quadcopter from Mission Planner

Can we control a copter, X8+, from Mission planner using an on screen display? like touch control?
I’m planning to run Mission Planner from tablet and it would be cool to control the craft directly from mission planner without the need of a RC controller.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

@Pickman,
Unless your tablet is running MS Windows or iOS good luck running MP.

Yes the tablet will be running windows 8.1 OS.
will it still work?

@Pickman,
Yes, it should.

does anyone know how to interface controls on to mission planner? any hints

@Pickman,
When in doubt, consult the Wiki http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-optional-hardware/flying-with-a-joystickgamepad-instead-of-rc-controller/

I use an intellink rc controller from Real Flight flight simulator. Works ok but even with parameters set to reduce delay it will still have some lag…I only use it for flight attitude corrections when flying via ground control…ie posting the drone to spot then yawing as needed to point the camera.
