CAM Msg Discrepancy - Edit tlog CAM Msg?

Hey Guys

Copter: X8 Pixhawk 3.3-rc10
Camera: Sony ILCE-5100 remote camera trigger distance based

I get the following error when I try to geotag through MP:

Using AMSL Altitude True
Reading log for GPS Messages in order to get AMSL Altitude
Log Read for GPS Messages
Reading log for CAM Messages
Log Read with - 106 - CAM Messages found
Read images
Images read : 105
CAM Msgs and Files discrepancy. Check it!

which results in abort.

My question is … without a total loss of this flight, since it’s only 1 CAM Msg extra, is it possible to edit it out and rerun the geotagging tool?

Pix4D has processed this flight with decent results but would like to run through a different processing service which only accepts geotagged images.

Many thanks
RC

what version MP are you running?

I would suggest using the time offset method, and tick the “use cam messages” box.

this will time match based on just the cam messages.

Forgive me, I forgot to specify what version of MP I’m running.

I’m using Mission Planner 1.3.31 build 1.1.5696.33420.

I will try using the time offset method but from my experience in the past it hasn’t been the most accurate.

I just tried that and got many errors.

example :

Photo DSC00983 PROCESSED with GPS position found 0 ms away
Photo DSC00984 PROCESSED with GPS position found 800 ms away
Photo DSC00985 PROCESSED with GPS position found 400 ms away
Photo DSC00986 PROCESSED with GPS position found 200 ms away
Photo DSC00987 NOT PROCESSED. No GPS match in the log file. Please take care
Photo DSC00988 NOT PROCESSED. No GPS match in the log file. Please take care
Start Processing
Done

So out of 100 images, maybe 10% was correctly geotagged.

Is editing the log files that difficult? It would be worth the effort for me in this case.

you could technicly edit the log and remove the one extra cam message. yes.

I did a search and came up empty. Forgive the bother but can you please point me to where this procedure is documented? Or is it? I’d rather rtfm.

Thank you

there is no manual for manualy editing the log file. as its a very specific use case

So…nothing? Can’t you even point me in the right direction? I’ve done my due diligence and have searched but it appears to be quite specific indeed.

you need to open the log file, remove 1 line that starts with CAM.

which one though I couldn’t tell you. as I don’t have anything to go on.

That’s all I needed, thank you!

I’ll return with results.

This still is an issue with the FW and this method still works. My camera always triggers once when the autopilot boots up but there is no message for it, so I always have to delete the first picture in the folder.
