So are there any opinions of SRTM vs Aster GDEM v2 for mountainous terrain and flight planning? I’m finding Aster data more current (obvious), especially working in open pit mines that change with time. Odd thing is I also have found the detail in Aster V2 from USGS is different than the one loaded from Global Mapper’s online data service. USGS is more detailed. Should be the same data set.
Depending on where you live you can use geotiff data for your elevation we are located in western, MT and have 10m elevation data that was found on the USGS site. Here is a link for how to put that data in mission planner.
