Best contribution for April - Eugene Shamaev for UAVCAN integration

Congratulations to Eugene Shamaev for winning the “Best Contribution of the Month” award for April 2017, for his work on developing an API for UAVCAN in Ardupilot’s HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). UAVCAN is a lightweight protocol designed for reliable communication in aerospace and robotic applications via CAN bus.

Eugene’s work has been a [a major Ardupilot contribution] (https://github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot/pull/5436) (and on-going), and allows for easy and efficient integration and support on all Ardupilot hardware platforms (in-tree drivers) of an ever increasing range of existing and forthcoming CAN devices. These include CAN ESCs, GPSs, servos, compasses, barometers, … all the way to integration of some electronic fuel injection systems over UAVCAN and future UAVCAN Smart Batteries.

Congratulations Eugene!

The prize this month was $200 for the top contributor. Thanks to those who donated to ArduPilot including our Corporate Partners. If you are a company and wish to donate a prize for an upcoming month, please email the partners email list (partners@ardupilot.org).

And a warm welcome and thanks to Ardupilot’s most recent and newest partners: Harris Aerial, BubbleFly, Altigator and Event38!
