BENEWAKE TF-MINI Lidar. Altitude climb erratic above RNGFND_MAX

Hello. I have a Hex with a mRo Pixhawk 2.4.6
Everything was fine until I added a Benewake TF Mini Lidar.
I set RNGFND_MAX to 700cm
Now when in Loiter mode or POS Hold mode, hovering lower than 7 metres everything is fine.
When I climb above 7 metres the climb becomes erratic. When I put the throttle stick back to hover, I find the drone is still climbing.
To investigate the problem further I enabled the Ch7 opt = Rangefinder enable/disable function in extended tuning.
So my work round for the time being:
If I flick the CH7 switch to disable the Rangefinder everything is OK above 7 meters.
If i’m hovering (filming) below 7 meters I enable Rangefinder.

Confirmed , TFMINI range is about 6-7 Meter outdoor. And yes you ca have erratic behaviour when flying on the “borderline “.

Just to clarify. The erratic climb is not just at the threshold Altitude.
It starts when the Lidar goes out of range right up!
When I level out, it still climbs, until I descend slightly then level out again. It then holds Altitude good.
With the Lidar (CH7) switched off everything is fine.
