My quad running Copter V4.4.4 failed to initiate autotune which is set to Mode 2 in the flight mode. I have been successful initiating autotune on this set up (same FC) many times, and this happened recently when I wanted to autotune after installing a heavier gimbal.
I usually initiate autotune from Stabilize mode. But this time I try initiate from Alt Hold, but still failed.
Attached are param and BIN log.
Thank you for any help.
I should not have submitted the log because I did not switch to mode 2 (autotune) during that flight. I only stay in STABILIZE mode (1166 PWM) which is Mode 1.
Autotune failed to initiate on bench. But as mentioned before, I had been successful for many times initiating Autotune (from Stabilize mode) during bench test.
The reason I submitted the log is this was asked by another guy who replied to someone for failure to initiate Autotune. But in fact, the log is not necessary as I had been successful to change to Autotune mode on bench. I even prove this in another vehicle.
Pls provide more details. Do you mean :–1) Autotune should not start on bench due to safety concern ? OR
2) Technically Autotune cannot start on bench because of software restriction , such as it is not airborne ?
Usually the day before I do Autotune, I usually test this mode on bench without problem. Pls see the link to the video showing changing from
Qstabilize mode to Autotune mode in one of my vehicles. Both MP and telemetry screen on TX16S indicate Autotune mode.
Autotune adds inputs to the control system and it could possibly get bad feedback when on the ground or taking off leading to dangerous changes to PID values.
