Are these motor encoders same type as Wheel Encoders — Rover documentation
QA:
a) Is there any ESC required?
b) Are these motors compatible with ArduRover 4.5?
EDIT: link to the motor & encoder 商品详情

They look very similar … maybe a different brand. I don’t speak Chinese, so I can’t know for 100% certainty, though.
a) Yes, most likely a (Brushed) ESC is required
b) They should work.
Thanks for your quick reply. I did a little translation.
I found a hobbywing brushed ESC, but it seems did NOT match the wiring diagram of this kind type of motor encoder.
Hobbywing QUICRUN WP 1080 G2 80A 2-3S Brushed ESC for 1/10 Crawlers
Thanks, I hope I can figure out the list of components for ArduRover, then I can buy it. But right now I’m quite confused on this motor and ESC.
Ok, that helps. So the ESC would plug into “Motor Power Cord P” and “Motor Power Cord M” on the 6-pin connector
The other 4 pins would connect to the flight controller, as per the Wheel Encoders — Rover documentation
Ah… I see. It seems that it need 3 GPIO for one motor encoder:
a) 1GPIO for PWM forward/backward control;
b) 2 GPIO for encoder to know motor position;
c) a brushed ESC for brush motor control
If I’m wrong, please correct me
And thanks @stephendade , Now I can prepare to buy the kit.
Correct. Also ensure the Vcc and Gnd of the motor (pins 2 and 5) are connected to a 5V power supply, as this supplies power to the encoder.
Thanks very much, I got it.
