APM 2.8 (firmware 3.2.1) outputting gibberish in CLI mode

Hi Forum experts,

Can anyone explain why APM 2.8 is (was) outputting gibberish in CLI mode.

I have checked the Com port setting and the baud-rate etc they set as per per recommendation.

I could use other functions in the MP so the APM was communicating correctly except in the CLI mode.

I read earlier on one of the treads that APM 2.6 did not support CLI mode.

Is is true that the CLI mode is not supported in APM 2.8 or did I have a faulty APM?

I had to send the APM and the GPS back to the supplier because the GPS never locked - tried in on the balcony and several other places and the MP flight data kept reporting - Bad Compass Health’ message.

We had another quad copter in the same room which was using Naze and its GPS would lock immediately.

We suspected that either or both the APM 2.8 and the GPS may have been faulty.

Now I am waiting for the replacement unit.

I wanted to get the facts about the CLI support on APM 2.8.

The CLI is disabled in the latest FW’s to save space. You don’t need it anyway. The gibberish is just MAVLink data.

Bad Compass Health just means you need to calibrate the compass.
