I would replace the Flight Controller and the GPS module. Sure, an F7 is possible. I like the Kakute F7 AIO or the Kakue F7 mini.

Thanks for confirming the F7 @dkemxr. What do you think is the cheapest compatible flight controller with GPS that would be OK?

Any thoughts about the first point anyone, what and how is the best way to load the firmware on the current board?

The F7ā€™s are ~$50. GPS modules are ~$20-$30.
