I don’t think the incident rate has increased. Thrust loss, power interruption, and poor tuning have long been the leading causes of crashes. The first two are mitigated by proper component sizing and proper wiring, along with proper ESC configuration (particularly in the case of BlHeli ESCs where some of the default settings can cause inflight protection states that are disadvantageous). The last is mitigated by proper tuning procedure.

So take this from a guy that was in the same position that you are in.
Do what these developers are instructing you to do!! It will only help you learn and make you better at building and understanding the how’s and why’s.
Yes it is frustrating at times but if you want a great flying machine go thru the process.
The development team here are awesome at helping, but they won’t do it all for you.
