2 IMU Vibe Z values change between the two IMUs Matek 743

I got a strange situation with the two IMUs (Matek 743). At the beginning, the Vibe Z of both IMUs were very similar, but reviewing a recent log I got values which are like 30 for the first IMU, and 7 for the second… What does it mean?

There was a severe vibration event between the two due to a semibroken motor mount (to the point where GPS module was ripped off the copter), but without crash.

Good chance the board mount was also problematic. The IMUs are at physically different locations, so if the mount is loose, the one closer to a loose fastener may exhibit a higher magnitude.

At least that’s my guess.

is it dangerous (i.e. hardware failure imminent of the matek board)? Can an imu get damaged from vibration? The board mounting sems to be fine.

Hard to say for sure whether it’s safe. If you checked the mounting, and it’s secure, and this behavior is consistent, I’d suggest you do have a damaged board. I couldn’t really speculate as to the cause.

Certainly abrupt shock loads can damage IMU hardware.

Thanks a lot… The copter seems to fly well, flew for 3 hours before I noticed
the issue in the logs…
