Sounds like a good project. I can’t take this on because I have too much on my plate already but what you’re asking for is included in what I’m working on for my aerial photography copter.
There are some enhancements required in BlueOS especially the part about capturing images and adding geo location to them when using a camera attached to the RPI.
So sorry I can’t immediately help but just want to say that I hope within 6 months this will be done and will be easy for users to setup regardless of whether they use my exact aerial photography copter or their own vehicle.
