Madflower, I believe you are correct with some of the issue is mechanical. But with that said, the latest release has worked wonders with this application and I am very happy with the latest resuts.
kktrussell, I started with liner actuators and found they were too slow as well, also the cheap ones I had were not reliable at all. I searched around and found some high torque servos (Hightech D-845WP 32-Bit, Monster Torque, Waterproof, Steel Gear Servo) . They have worked better than expected! The biggest problem I have is that its too fast and not quite enough throw, but I can correct with a different servo horn. I am not sure if they will hold up, but have done well so far.
