After reading through the “Configuring a Telemetry Radio” section of the documentation again,
I decided to update the firmware & make a few changes:
I had not noticed this before:
RTS CTS hardware flow control. If you are using a ArduPilot firmware version released after mid 2016 and you have connected your radio to Pixhawk Telem1 Telem2 or other RTS/CTS supporting telemetry port then you can activate this, or set it to auto to improve performance.
I also updated my airpseed to 48 from 64 in favor of range over speed.
I think I’ll stick with the 3dr SiK radios after deciding that losing telemetry would not be as bad as I had previously thought. I have good warnings and mostly what I need on the transmitter. Maybe I’ll update them at some point.
