Z-axis vibration observed during hover flight.

Hi everyone,

I’m flying a drone with a 140 kg AUW, and during my last two flights, I observed extremely high Z-axis vibration, which is causing noticeable altitude variations during flight.

In Mission Planner, the vibration graph shows the Z-axis vibration reaching around 99.37.

I’m currently using 56-inch propellers.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue on a heavy-lift/coaxial multirotor? If so, I would really appreciate your suggestions on how to identify the root cause and correct this vibration issue.

The root cause is that the frame is not stiff enough, and that the props are too close to the arms.

“Yeah, that’s true! My ESCs are mounted very close to the props. Can you suggest something I can change immediately, without modifying the overall design, to reduce the Z-axis vibration?”

Do you have any pictures? Of the arms, of where the avionics are mounted to the frame?
