Workflow: Give local moderator rights for a subforum

This is the workflow to give users local moderator rights for a specific subforum. This is done e.g. for developers which don’t need to be global moderators or administrators but should have moderator rights in their respective software-specific subforum.

1.) Go to ACP -> “Users and Groups” -> “User Forum Permissions”, look up the username
2.) Select the forums in which the user should have moderator rights and click “Select”. Multiple selections are possible through holding CTRL and clicking in the select box.
3.) In the following “Setting permissions” screen, choose “Moderator permissions” from the “Select type” dropdown and click “Go”.
4.) For all subforums in which the user should have local moderator rights, choose “Standard Moderator” from the “Role” dropdown.
DO NOT choose “Full Moderator” as full moderators also have access to administrative functions and the user management!
5.) Click on “Apply all permissions”

6.) If the user should have access to the “Administrators / Moderators” subforum, repeat the user selection process and continue
7.) Select the “Administrators / Moderators” forum from the select box and click “Select”.
8.) In the following “Setting permissions” screen, DO NOT choose “Moderator permissions” from the “Select type”! Leave it on “Forum permissions”!
9.) For the “Administrators / Moderators” forum choose the role "Standard Access"
10.) Click on “Apply all permissions”
