Why has development for APM Planner 2 stagnated?

Came across this today. Seems that there have been efforts to make MissionPlanner cross platform, but in 2025, active development is nonexistent. My question is why? Does APM Planner 2 work well as is? Did maintainers abandon this project? If so, should it really be in ArduPilot Documentation? Kind of misleading… a newbie could think MissionPlanner is outdated and download APM Planner 2 and miss out on a whole suite of features… There is many open issues on APM planner 2 github repo: GitHub - ArduPilot/apm_planner: APM Planner Ground Control Station (Qt)

If you’re looking for a cross platform alternative to Mission Planner then look at QGC.

AMP Planner 2 … Don’t know why, but it’s dead. As somebody who started this journey (a long time ago) from Mac, I get it.

IIRC APM Planner 2 od a fork of QGC. It shares the same development downsides as QGC like inability to use GUI editors and unlike GQC doesn’t have the PX4 aligned devs working on it.

But it does appear that no updates have been done for over 2 years.
