Why can't an unconfigured battery monitor autocalibrate itself?

I have been trying to set up my Pixhawk 2.4.8 in Mission planner and It keeps reading the battery voltage as 0 even when the battery is plugged in and measured as not being that. I was mostly wondering how to set it up so that it automatically calibrates.

You need to configure the correct type of battery monitor before the ArduPilot firmware can read a voltage.

Once you have a voltage read value, you can calibrate it. It will not automatically calibrate itself.

Thale a look at the battery monitor documentation section.

What battery monitor model do you have?
How is it connected to the flight controller?

The voltage calibration isn’t too hard

With the pixhawk 2.4.8 you are most likely using the 3dr-style power module for analog voltage and current

There is a tab in mission planner that allows you to do the configuring in the optional hardware section

Once the correct hardware has been selected, you need to just fill the voltage you have in reality in the box and then it automatically sets up the correct factor
