What's the max

Hello
What is the maximum altitude and distance Iris+ can go before the receiver start to lost signal in on fully charge battery. So I can estimate and fly back save. Is there any led light that can attach and make more visual when Iris+ is at distance.
Thanks
Eddie

It’s operating at 900mhz or 433mhz for telemetry and 2.4 ghz for controller. It depends on your height above ground level (AGL), the aircraft height AGL, atmospheric conditions and what kind of shoes you’re wearing. (Kidding re shoes)

But in general for 900mhz you’ll lose controller first at around 400ft/120m away from you. It’ll start beeping.

Telemetry is WAY more reliable. You’ll start losing that about 1000 meters away from you and only if you drop close to the ground. If you’re still line of sight at about 60m/180ft you’ll still have comms at just under a mile.

If this is something you’re seriously interested in, look at a high gain antenna for telemetry including directional yagis. Also consider getting an amateur radio license which will allow you to boost your telemetry to 10watts at 900 mhz.

The led’s are already extremely bright, I think you’ll be quite happy.

Mark.

Thanks Sparky,
I’ve very little knowledge in this field. I understand it will lose control at 400ft/200m and it start to beep. By the way I wear slipper very low heel. It was Just half inch higher (joking).
What I don’t understand is telemetry. Is my control come with Iris+ need telemetry system or I need to get a amateur radio license to boost telemetry to 10 watts at 900mhz. Please excuse my question because I totally no knowledge and not understand. Will you please make me understand.
Thanks
Eddie

I’m kind of new to all this as well, but I think telemetry in this context is when/if you use a laptop or tablet with the included “USB telemetry” radio to program missions and provide aircraft feedback and flight log data.

This thingy …
