Im trying to make a tilt motor vtol where 2 of the front motors will tilt. As soon as I takeoff in any mode ( qstabilize/qloiter ) the aircraft starts to yaw immediately in clockwise direction and I cant control it. At this point I feel like I have checked everything from esc issue to frame type I cant possibly think of any issue . I have attached logs any help to make it fly would be appreciated.
hi @Dash_74
All my problems with tilt motors vtol was about the max and min angle of the tilt motors.
I believe you skip some points once there is no Q_TILT_YAW_ANGLE configured.
I cannot see in your logs any kind of movement of your outputs
I believe you need to check Tilt Rotor Setup Tips — Plane documentation
will try this. I had previously build a 4+1 config ig lean angle becomes more important there hence overlooked lets see if it works thanks!!
I believe you will use the vectored yaw , and in this case, the yaw controller is based in the tilt movement, and you really need to pay attention to the tilt angles and the servos max and min.
It works now went through the documentation and understood the setup . Thank you so much!!
I also have one more question , currently im using 35kg dual shaft servos on flycat 5010 motors . How much thrust can the servo sustain before it fails?
Great and god news.
It can be tricky to find the correct angles and pid settings.
Sorry,
I really don’t know.
Good question. I did a bit of testing. It seems a spinning prop does not significantly increase the torque required to tilt it. I think it’s more important to get a quality servo, preferably with a brushless motor. It seems the brushes are a weak point. I’m now using savox. Here is one of my testing vids.
oh wow. Now that I think about it when the prop rotates the force is always perpendicular to the tangent of movement arc and generally if im not wrong the torque is calcuated by liftiing something tangential to the servo arm arc and no change in the direction of force either
