I want to use this telemetry while using mobile hotspot on the laptop.
but, because laptop is already connected to mobile hotspot, I can’t connected to wifi telemetry because wifi connection is already occupied.
RF telemetry is free from this problem, but because I have local legal restrictions, I can’t use RF telemetry.
I’m making some toy project GCS and it needs internet connections while using telemetry.
I will try wifi dongle on the laptop but want to hear about better solution
If you are running MAVESP8266 you can try to configure it to connect to your hotspot’s network (station mode) rather than host its own (AP mode). Your hotspot should make the connections available to each other.
great answer. I didnt know it was open sourced because it was from aliexpress. maybe they were using open source, like other FCs or OSDs they are selling.
very thank you.
and for your information,
just connecting other mobile usb tethering also can be solution to this problem.
I found that my laptop can use two network simultaneously even though it have only one lan card.
Can confirm MAVESP8266 works a treat on the ESP-07S even though it’s not officially documented, and @Muhammad_Al-Rawi’s answer on station mode is correct. If you’re looking for something extremely light this will work too as long as you power it with 3.3V.
The external antenna does improve the range considerably over a stock ESP8266. The flashing process can be a bit tricky though so ping me if you run into trouble. However do bear in mind the ESP-07 runs on 2.4GHz and your hotspot should be configured appropriately, and make sure it won’t interfere with your radio link.
I want light thing but I think I don’t need it now because my quad is already too heavy. decreasing small amount of weight will have no effect… I think.
thank you for yhour information. and I want to use external antenna but worrying about local legal regulation. if it is not illegal in korea, I want to try them. do you have any antenna that recommend?
I’m already using small patch antenna same as that on the webpage I linked(aliexpress)
The ESPs run on 2.4GHz so 2.4GHz ELRS antennas or TBS Tracer antennas work pretty well. They should be a bit more omnidirectional and compact than the patches you’re using.
