Using Channel 6 Tuning Dial to Control Variable Rates?

I have a Yuneec Typhoon H and it has a slider to adjust the control rates of the vehicle. It will adjust roll, pitch, yaw, and climb/descent. For roll and pitch, it may just limit the max lean angle, but I’m not sure exactly. For yaw and climb it limits the rate, deg/sec or ft/sec.

Can a similar effect be achieved by always enabling Channel 6 for in-flight tuning? I realize that this cannot control all axes, but I can at least do roll/pitch. This may be a nice feature, I could turn down the rates before I let a less experienced pilot fly.

Is there any downside to doing this?
Are there unforeseen side effects?
