Tuning gidance for drone in windy condition

Continuing the discussion from Crash after motor stopped:

Hi, I need help tuning my drone. It’s flying well now, but I’ve noticed a few things from my flights:

  • During takeoff in AltHold/Loiter mode, it experiences oscillations, but after 30-50 seconds in the air, it stabilizes.
  • In no wind or light wind, it flies well, but in windy conditions, it behaves very strangely.

Could you guide me in tuning my copter? I’ve checked the hardware, but it doesn’t support telemetry. I also tried updating the firmware, but with no luck. With the current ESC parameters, it flies well, but when I change any parameters in the ESC or FC, it behaves very strangely.

i have attached the log files for reference: log_29_oct_25 - Google Drive

drone specs: 12 inch prop, AUW is 2.6kgs

Use the ArduPilot methodic configurator software to guide you step-by-step through the fastest and safest tuning.

i tried methodic configurator but the drone flight was very unstable so i re-flashed with a new firmware and made the drone air born

Did you update the firmware, reset all parameters to default values and used ArduPilot Methodic Configurator 2.7.0 from step 04 to step 23 (minimalist mandatory tuning)?

Hi, I’ve updated the firmware and reset all parameters to their default values. Could you guide me on tuning the drone for windy conditions? The drone isn’t performing well—during takeoff, it oscillates heavily for 40–60 seconds before stabilizing and flying normally. i tried with AMC but its not working well on the system so shifted to old scchol way in setting the param using MP Reference drive link:log_01_11_2025 - Google Drive

What did not work well? If you do not provide details, I can also not provide details.
What makes you think that old school is better?

Which AMC steps did you do? Which ones did you skip? If you do not perform all AMC mandatory steps the result is suboptimal at best.
