Hi everyone,
I am currently setting up Mission Planner for a USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) and I’m trying to move away from standard satellite imagery toward professional nautical charts.
I am attempting to use the NOAA ENC / Marine Chart services via the Custom WMS/WMTS feature in Mission Planner, but I’m running into issues where the layers simply do not render, despite the server being detected.
My Setup:
-
GCS: Mission Planner (1.3.83)
-
Source URL:
I use NOAA WMTS :https://gis.charttools.noaa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/MarineChart_Services/NOAACharts/MapServer/WMTS
from https://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/data/gis-data-and-services.html#enc-display-services
Issue:
When adding this as a custom WMTS :
Mission Planner successfully detects the layers (showing two identical “MarineChart_Services_NOAACharts” options):
but after selecting Layer 0 (or 1), the map remains blank:
I tried with both layers at different level of zoom but couldn’t make it work.
I have successfully loaded this WMTS URL in Global Mapper without any issues, which confirms that the NOAA server is healthy and the URL is correct. The problem appears to be specific to how Mission Planner handles the request.
I also attempted to connect via the NOAA WMS :
https://gis.charttools.noaa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/MCS/ENCOnline/MapServer/exts/MaritimeChartService/WMSServer
Unfortunately, this also fails to render.
Has anyone successfully implemented these specific NOAA WMS/WMTS layers in Mission Planner?
Any advice on how to get these professional nautical tiles to render would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
