Any ideas why my thrust reduces during transition to forward at low airspeed and motors at about 45deg. Im thinking it should be a lot smoother than this. Quite alarming to hear.
Thanks
Perhaps I just need to give it a thumb full of throttle, contrary to instincts that hover takes much more power.
Applying full throttle during transition didn’t help, it still brought the throttle back quite alarmingly, delaying transition speed. I guess its still trying to use the 2 front motors to stabilize during this period?
Are there any settings that may help this?
Hi @tridge
Sorry to tag you but this transition behavior is really puzzling me. I think you are the main guy with this?
As the motors begin to tilt forward I would expect the loss of vertical component to be compensated by increased power to the 2 front motors. The opposite happens. The power then temporarily recovers to max before once again dropping very low even though I put full throttle stick. This is quite alarming to watch and feels like the transition will fail. Is this expected behavior
? Have I got a setting wrong?
Thanks in advance.
What is your altitude doing during this transition? I see in the logs for my Hornet tilt rotor VTOL, the throttles reduce significantly but it’s still gaining altitude because of the short period in QStab with a high throttle stick. I don’t see the oscillations you are seeing during transition though, is there noise on the yaw channel?
Not much vibrations on yaw channel. The odd peak at 20 during transition. I cant see much change in altitude. I understand that the throttle trying to maintain altitude so perhaps there is a slight rise that causes it to back off power?
Previously I changed my q_tilt_rate _dn to 20. Perhaps its a little too fast. Next flight I will slow it down and also change q_tilt_max from 45 to 55.
