T2 Cruza VTOL for ArduPlane Development

Topic: T2 Cruza VTOL for ArduPlane Development

Proposal type: Hardware , Software , Other : _________________

Description:

I’m requesting a small VTOL testbed to support two things:

1. Flight validation of PRs. I’ve had some transition-related PRs that I’ve been relying on others to flight test for me (and some that I’ve thrown straight to Volanti for testing). I’m planning some more coming up, and it’ll be good for me to have access to something a little smaller and cheaper beyond my usual RealFlight SITL testing.

2. General beta testing. I plan to fly master builds every few weeks and maybe play around with any other open PRs that need testing.

Planned amount $$ (USD):

$1450 - T2 Cruza VTOL, conversion kit as spares, 2x flight packs, 1 receiver, plus 10% margin in the request per Randy’s recent message

Estimated time for completion:

2 months

Wondering if a 4 motor version would be better for r and d. 2 Tilt motors front and two fixed motors back.

It might be, but Bob has severe limitations on where he can fly and this small plane will give him a lot more scope to get flights in. I have one of these and it will definitely be a win for us for Bob to be able to fly it.

I think the idea behind this is it’s a lot of money and the choice should be more geared towards the partners.
