Slow time to GPS fix, low satellite count ( Solved)

GPS take very long time to get enough sats for 3d fix currently using iflight blitz m10 gps with speedbee f405 v4 and it’s very slow getting 3d fix in addition previously I used in GPS_TYPE to be set to ublox and it was helping but with latest firmware this parameter doesn’t appear!!

What do you mean it doesn’t appear?

Ok it now GPS1_TYPE instead of GPS_TYPE as my old build.. Thanks

Any other steps that can Improve GPS signal reception.

What do you have for GNSS Mode?

The parameters is GPS1_GNSS_MODE =0

Try enabling a couple of constellations that work where you are. 0 means it whatever the module is internally set to.

Does changing the uart can help..?

Can you show a photo of the quadcopter?
Do you have a VTX antenna above the GPS?
Because that can cause the problem, so I suggest that when powering up the copter, either turn the VTX off if your FC has that feature, or enable pit mode, until a GPS fix is established.
If the issue still persists after gaining a fix, then try lowering VTX power output to 25mW for example.
If that still doesn’t help then the distance between VTX antenna and GPS may need to be increased, either by changing to a longer VTX antenna or relocating one of them.
From my experience I have noticed such problems when VTX antenna is too close to GPS antenna, even though they both use different frequencies, the GPS nevertheless experiences interference.

No VTX installed in this quad only gps and elrs reciver.

Your table is a bitmask so the line “0 GPS” mean bit number 0 hast to be set for GPS.
If you want only to use GPS you have to set bits 0000 0001 which is “1” for the GPS1_GNSS_MODE setting.

Alright, that rules out VTX.
The same applies to RC receivers with telemetry though.
People have reported experiencing issues with ELRS interfering with GPS, I think most reports were specific to using LR1121 hardware and/or specific packet rates. XR4 RX noise causing GPS fix loss or reduced performance · Issue #3178 · ExpressLRS/ExpressLRS · GitHub

The fix might be as simple as relaxing GPS_HDOP_GOOD to a value around 200 (instead of the default 140).

What happened today after change GPS1_GNSS_MODE =1 it get immediately 10 sats but again start to decrease to 7 sat then no lock for long period I will test again tomorrow in another location.

Ok many thanks I will change and test it tomorrow.

Should I disable this
GPS_INJECT_TO

No. That has nothing to do with your problems.

…there was one time we have been using Siyi MK15 remote, and we had the same problem. When we turned off the MK15 reciever, GPS goes full sat again. May be your radio is making some interference?

Give it a try…

I have had really good gps satellite and fix by twisting the gps wires and then wrapping in copper foil tape. Before that, it was hit and miss.
