Skid Steer Rover - Steering and pivot, turning in opposite directions

Hi guys and girls

Having issues with my Skid Steer Rover Mower in how its acting for steering and pivot turning and I’m lost as to what to try next. I’m guessing it’s a simple fix, or it’s something I have done wrong to this point.

When controlling the rover in Manual mode via a remote controller it goes forward and backwards fine, when the throttle is applied and the steering in either direction is also applied, everything is fine within reason, the problem I’m having is when there is no throttle or when the steering applied is greater than the throttle applied, it does a pivot turn and the rover turns in the opposite direction to the applied direction on the remote controller.

A detailed description of the setup is below.

Setup –

I use a laptop running Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish), Mission planner 1.3.82 build 1.3.8979.17128 ArduRover V4.6.2 (1ebd4d99)

The laptop communicates to a base station over wifi - ssh which consists of a raspberry pi running a form of linux and a Ardusimple - simpleRTK2B and a 915Mz radio receiver/transmitter. The antenna and GPS receiver are on the roof of my shed.

The 915Mz transmitter on the roof talks to the Rover.

The Rover has a Holybro Pixhawk 6x, Ardusimple - simpleRTK2B, Holybro 915Mz 100mW receiver/transmitter, Flysky FS-iA6B receiver, Cytron MDD20A motor driver(using brushed with relay settings), 350w 24v permanent magnet dc brushed motors.

I had tuned the throttle side of things but hadn’t got to the steering as I’m experiencing this issue and thought that it would only make matters worse.

Video of whats happening is in the link. In the video when driving forward I apply a small percentage of right and it turns right, but when I apply full right it pivots to the left.
