Hello All,
New to this forum, but spent a bunch of time reading the SiYi A8 articles. I have been developing easy to use web based controls for the A8 mini camera and gimbal.
While the drone flys its mission, I can concentrate on video and photos.
While working on this, I (stupidly) decided to upgrade the firmware. Since I did that, the camera blinks green, red and amber over and over again. I can ping 192.168.144.25, but can not longer connect to the gimbal or camera. I tried flashing both the gimbal and the camera many times.
I have tried A8 mini Firmware Pack v0.4.3.zip and A8 mini Firmware Pack v0.3.7.zip.
I did contact support@siyi, the firmware they told me to use did not work.
Does anyone have other versions of firmware that I could possible try before trashing the SiYi project?
Hello there i am facing a similar issue i have also tried updating the firmware to latest version and getting the same 2 RED and 1 YELLOW error led. Did you find any fix for this issue
I have good news and bad news, about SIYI A8 Mini after the latest firmware upgrade for both the gimbal and camera. Despite the update, I have two red and one yellow error LED illuminated, although the camera and gimbal are otherwise functional again!
When I check the camera version using SIYI Assistant En v1.4.5, it displays as 0.0.0, which seems to be a common problem for many A8 users after a firmware upgrade.
I’ve been in contact with SIYI support (support@siyi.biz) regarding this. They eventually provided me with a firmware link:
Please let me know if this link doesn’t work for you; I can send you the zip file directly.
I used many different SD cars, FAT32 formats, I also tried different laptops to write the microSD cards, etc…
Frankly, I’m quite frustrated with SIYI’s support. I’ve had to close my support request because we simply can’t afford to have unreliable A8 Mini units. We’re looking to deploy thousands of these cameras, and their current instability is a significant concern. I really like the A8 mini when it works
Thanks for your prompt reply Tony,
Did your camera started streaming again, cause although my gimbal works the camera still does’nt stream or capture images. Even i got in touch with SIYI support and i am pretty sure that they sent us both the same drive link. The link you provided did not work for me could you send it over as zip so i could try it out one more time.
I am using direct ethernet connection from the camera to my laptop and using RTSP stream to view the camera stream. Also those commands you did through SIYI Assistant or is there a separate terminal for that. I did get the stream once after the update but after one power cycle that is not working again. I hope siyi fixes this asap.
BTW thanks for the zip i will try that out and let you. Also did you try capturing images or video on SD after this issue if so did that come out well
Tried that firmware too with no improvement the same issue persists after power cycle.
Have sent another mail to @SIYI hope they will take notice of this issue and resolve it as soon as possible
Meanwhile If you do get any solutions let me know, I will also update if i get any solutions or workarounds.
I will keep you updated if I find any solutions. Right now both the gimbal and camera are down. I have three firmware zip files, 0.3.7, 0.3.9 and 0.4.3. Do you have any different ones I can try?
Thank you for the sending the link. I tested the new firmware and it did not do anything after rebooting. Camera still shows firmware 0.0.0 and had the dreaded red and yellow flashing.
While reviewing all the complaints about the Siyi A8 mini, I am beginning to think it is a hardware/design problem where it cannot save new firmware to a non volatile location. Maybe heat related camera damage and SiYi does not want to tell us?
I hope Siyi engineers could come up with a software work-around.
Can you post a solution here so it is found by everyone instead of everyone contacting support?
Problem is A8 mini does not work after firmware upgrade, SiYi Assistant software shows camera firmware version 0.0.0. Sometimes camera will working but if restarted it will return to 0.0.0.
I’ve had a new fun side effect of updating my A8 and gimbal to the latest firmware. On a very stable and reliable 900mm quad that’s never crashed before and which has an A8, N7 autopilot SIYIM9N GPS, and MK32 ground station. After camera/gimbal update. I launched my quad to see if the water ripple/gimbal instability was better. At 20 meters AGL i lost all stabilization, the quad was uncontrollable and hit the ground. Destroyed my A8, broke both landing gear. Still evaluating what’s left
I don’t know why a gimbal update could affect the autopilot but i was recording the whole time. The gimbal goes crazy first then the quad goes crazy.
What version of flight controller firmware is being used? Have you checked the flight controller logs? For more specialised technical support, please contact your supplier to report this issue.
My issue has to do with gimbal movement commands. I’ve been using the SDK and the gimbal has been working fine. Then, after trying to update the firmware for both gimbal and camera, the gimbal no longer responds to pan/tilt commands. I’m having problems with the gimbal mode, doesn’t seem to want to stay in one mode, always transitions back to Follow.
Everything else works fine - streaming, info requests etc.
I’m looking at this software and I’m wondering if the SIYI_4K_MINI_UpgradeSD.bin file is the one that has to be installed first before the regular camera firmware can be uploaded. I’m thinking of trying this (I confirmed via Copilot). I’ll let you know if I have any luck.
