I use the ardupilot SITL as described here: http://ardupilot.org/dev/docs/sitl-simulator-software-in-the-loop.html, with JSBsim for flight simulation. However, I need to implement another flight model than the default one (I want to implement an aerosonde model, as described by Beard & McLain 2012 in “Small Unmanned Aircraft”, but with extended nonlinear behaviour). A colleague of mine modelled another UAV model according to the JSBsim standards, and informed me that this simulator demands a lot more details than what is needed for my level of simulation (like take-off details etc).
So my question is: Has anyone had any experience with the flight simulators listed on this page, when it comes to plane model implementation? http://ardupilot.org/dev/docs/sitl-with-xplane.html
I’m looking for a simulator where my custom nonlinear models can be implemented, but which is as simple as possible otherwise.
