Seeking ArduPilot / Firmware Co-Founder – Maritime SAR UAV Project (UK)

We’re in the early stages of developing a unique long-endurance UAV platform tailored for Maritime Search and Rescue (MSAR) operations.

The core concept is well-defined - we have an initial airframe design, powerplant, and flight control unit selected, and we’re progressing toward our first prototype build. The first platform will be self-funded, with plans to conduct a trial with a leading MSAR organisation (discussions already underway). Following that trial, we’ll have the proof of concept needed to secure formal investment (investor conversations are in progress but we’re still pre-funding).

We’re now looking to bring in a technical co-founder or collaborator with:

  • Strong background in ArduPilot, QGroundControl, parameters, and custom firmware development
  • Understanding of system architecture, MAVLink, and companion computer integration
  • Preferably an engineering background with end-to-end UAV design experience
  • Passion for practical, real-world UAV applications that save lives

We’re a small, focused team building something genuinely novel in the UAV space. This is a part-time, equity-based role at the outset - suitable for someone motivated by ownership and technical challenge rather than short-term contract work.
