Recently flown a flight with a new quad and I’ve put a log into the online filter review tool to try and see if I can filter out noise any better than the default setup.
Online I read that there’s not too much point in filtering below 50dB and judging by the frequency-amplitude graph most of it’s (post filter) is below that threshold already.
One question I had hover, as I’m quite new to this tuning stuff, is that the 1st notch is before the first spike of gyro 1 Y pre-fitler, should I be increasing the notch frequency to put the line directly over that spike? And the second, larger spike for X pre-filter; should I enable a second notch for that?
Log file (Start at 325 and end at 357 for analysis time)
Those filters are good. There’s a tiny bit of room for some improvment but you’re at a point you won’t gain much, and really risk over filtering. The rate outputs look clean so IMHO I’d say you’re good to keep going.
You’re using ESC telemetry so it’s driving the frequency. The INS_HNTCH_FREQ is just setting the lowest it will go. The notch is targeting around 73hz so you’re good there. I played with adding a second harmonic but the improvements weren’t significant.
Sometimes what I do is leave the filter logging turned on as I do more flying with the quad. Then I may come back and tweak it later when I have a log with more data.
Okay perfect cheers for the clarification. I did another flight, this time in AUTO, and there’s a different spike post-filter peaking at 1Hz for -11dB.
